Manitoulin Chocolate Works is located in Kagawong, Ontario, a small village in the heart of Manitoulin Island, just off the trails of the Bridal Veil Falls.
The combined shop and manufacturing space is housed in one of the town’s original historic buildings. Louise and Keith McKeen purchased this historic building in Kagawong on Manitoulin Island in 1995 which began a 10-year labour of love converting the 105 year-old building into an artisan chocolate manufacturing company.
In 1998 Manitoulin Chocolate Works opened its doors delivering a unique combination of delicious handmade chocolates, confections, fresh roasted coffee and a delicious variety of sweet and savoury gourmet items from around Ontario and the UK.
With extensive experience and training at The Chocolate Academy in Montreal and The French Pastry School in Chicago, Louise and her daughters also employ the most up-to-date methods and processes to create their delicious chocolate delicacies. Manitoulin Chocolate Works uses Selmi, an Italian brand of chocolate equipment – now expanding their line with two tempering machines and the first automatic truffle mill in North America.
Our handmade products are carefully created in small batches using the highest quality Belgian Callebaut chocolate. The creation of fine quality chocolates demands precise execution of tempering, filling and mold preparation, enrobing, cooling and storage. Proper preparation of ingredients, equipment, temperature and timing are all critical aspects in creating the highest quality products.
Only the finest ingredients, traditional techniques and state of the art equipment are used to create sumptuous, irresistible chocolates and confections.
To provide chocolate enthusiasts with a high quality taste experience through our handcrafted confections, made with rich, flavourful ingredients and served by knowledgeable, friendly staff in an engaging, comfortable and unique atmosphere.
